Print-and-Apply Methods: Tamp, Blow or Wipe?

The applicator type decides speed, accuracy and which packs can be labelled.

Print-and-Apply Methods: Tamp, Blow or Wipe?

Tamp

A pad carries the label and presses it onto the product. It is accurate and handles varying heights, but the contact stroke limits speed.

Tamp-blow and blow

The pad stops short and a jet of air blows the label on. No contact makes it suitable for fragile or uneven products and for higher rates.

Wipe-on

The label is fed at product speed and brushed down as it passes. It is fast and simple but needs a consistent product position.

Corner-wrap and two-side

Special arms apply one label around a corner, or two labels to adjacent faces, to meet retail and logistics requirements.
