Polyolefin (POF)
Clear, glossy, strong and approved for food contact. It seals cleanly and is the standard for retail overwrap.
Polyethylene (PE)
Thicker and tougher, with high puncture resistance. It is used for bundling bottles and cans and shrinks at higher temperatures.
PVC
Shrinks at low temperatures and is inexpensive, but releases fumes when sealed and is hard to recycle. Its use is declining.
Gauge and perforation
Use the thinnest film that survives your distribution chain, and add micro-perforations so air can escape during shrinking.
