Cartons are coded at the cartoner discharge, usually on a varnish-free window. Pharmaceutical and cosmetic cartons demand high-resolution, high-grade codes on glossy board.
Practical tips
- Leave an unvarnished knock-out window for water-based ink.
- For laser, a dark printed patch gives the best contrast.
- Control carton position at the coder with guides — TIJ throw distance is only a few millimetres.
