Handheld Fiber Laser Marker

Take the laser to parts that are too large or heavy to move.

Handheld Fiber Laser Marker
How it works

Built around your product

The FL-H20 separates a lightweight marking head from a wheeled power unit, so operators can mark castings, pipes, steel structures and installed machinery in place. A contact safety collar enables emission only when the head is seated on the part.

A ytterbium-doped fiber source generates the beam, a pair of galvanometer mirrors steers it across the marking field, and an F-theta lens keeps the spot in focus over the whole area. On moving lines an encoder tracks product speed so the code stays undistorted. MOPA sources add adjustable pulse width, which is what makes black marking on anodised aluminium and colour marking on stainless steel possible.

Process sequence

Detect

A photo-eye or PLC signal tells the controller a part has arrived.

Track

The encoder reports line speed so the scan head can follow the moving surface.

Mark

Galvo mirrors steer the pulsed beam to draw text, logos, 1D and 2D codes.

Extract

Fume extraction removes particulates at the marking point.

Verify

An optional camera reads the code back and rejects any failure.

Suitable materials and packs

Questions

Which materials suit a fiber laser?
Stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, titanium, coated metals and many plastics such as ABS, PA and PC. Clear glass, wood and plain paperboard are better served by CO2 or UV sources.
What is the difference between Q-switched and MOPA?
A Q-switched source has a fixed pulse width and suits most engraving and coding work. A MOPA source lets you tune pulse width and frequency, giving finer control over heat input for black anodised marks, colour marks and delicate plastics.
Does a fiber laser need consumables?
No inks or solvents. Running costs are electricity, periodic lens cleaning and fume-filter replacement.
